Frequently Asked Questions

Does having a chronic illness mean I automatically qualify?

No. Eligibility depends on assessed care needs (nature, intensity, complexity, unpredictability), not diagnosis alone.

Can I claim care fees for 2008–2011?

Generally no. Most ICBs only accept retrospective requests for care from 1 April 2012 onwards.

What if care records are incomplete or missing?

Missing records can seriously weaken a claim. Focus on periods where evidence is strongest. Be realistic about the claim window.
